CAU Lady Panthers Win 2012 SIAC Volleyball Championship

The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers volleyball team are champions of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

SIAC official Danielle Smoot presents the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers and second-year coach Brittany Black (center left) with the championship trophy after the team captured the 2012 SIAC Volleyball title on Nov. 9 in a decisive five-set match over top-seeded Albany State University (20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 17-15).

Danica Lawrence (third from right) was named the tournament’s “Most Valuable Player” while Ashley Brooks (fourth from right) and Tyneishah Spears (far left) were named to the All-Tournament team. Spears also picked up the “Libero of the Tournament” honor and Black was named “Coach of the Tournament.” The Lady Panthers will compete in the NCAA Division II Regional Championships to be announced later.
