Members of Atlanta’s business community are reeling from shock after the sudden death of beloved photographer, owner of Denise Gray Photography.  Denise succumbed the morning of April 22 after a brief illness.

Focusing on location photography and specializing in event services such as corporate, portraiture and special events, Denise shared her artistry gift with Fortune 500 companies as well as entrepreneurs.  Her work was resplendent of her commitment to excellence, wherein she captured the magic of every moment, the legacy of every historical image, and the true essence of the professional and company with each head shot and corporate event.  Truly, Atlanta has suffered a great loss.

A native of Chicago, Denise captured the heart of many organizations.  For years, she served as the official photographer for Who’s Who in Black Atlanta and the Atlanta Business League.  Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Atlanta Gas Light and Turner Broadcasting System were also among her clientele.  She was formally trained at the Southeastern Center of Arts in Atlanta.

Denise understood the concept of, “To whom much is given, much is also required.” As such, she enjoyed mentoring up-and-coming photographers. She spent six years as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters.  She served as a member of Sistagraphy, an organization of her professional peers, for 10 years (1993-2003).  A community activist, Denise also served as a board member of American Red Cross Minority Recruitment Advisory Board, Integrity Networking Group and Sisters Empowerment Network.

She will be funeralized Tuesday, May 1, at noon, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with Willie Watkins Funeral Directors in charge.

Viewing of the body and reception by family will be held Monday, April 30,  from 6-8 p.m. at Watkins Funeral Home Chapel.
