SEIU: Americans Can't Afford Romney Economics

Mary Kay Henry, International President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), says that her group is endorsing President Obama for four more years.

“Mitt Romney doesn’t have a single idea to create new jobs other than going back to the failed trickle down policies of the past. Those policies didn’t work and got us into the financial mess that President Obama inherited,” she said.

Henry noted that “Despite his disingenuous attempts to appeal to the 47 percent of voters he famously dismissed, Romney failed to come up with credible answers on the big issues facing working families during the debates. His plans for the economy are murky and he wants to keep them that way. He doesn’t want to tell the American people that his plan – tax cuts for the rich and trickle-down economics – are the way to help our economy recover. American voters won’t buy it.”

Henry went on to say that middle-class Americans cannot afford four years of ‘Romney Economics.’ “We need a president who fights for us and that’s what we have in President Barack Obama,” she asserted.

With 2.1 million members in Canada, the United States and Puerto Rico, SEIU is the fastest-growing union in the Americas. Focused on uniting workers in healthcare, public services and property services, SEIU members fight for better wages, healthcare and more secure jobs for communities, while uniting their strength with their counterparts around the world to help ensure that workers benefit from today’s global economy.
