Thanks to President Barack Obama, webseries phenom Issa Rae and Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele of Comedy Central’s “Key and Peele,” the profile and prestige of the so-called “black nerd” is on the rise. This new social group’s increasing popularity has led to  the creation of a website to help them find love – BlackNerdDating.com.

“It’s no secret that Nerds and geeks, particularly black nerds have specific tastes and preferences that may not fit into the today’s online social circles,” said BlackNerdDating.com creator and proud geek, Keith York. “Dating is no different which is why BlackNerdDating.com is a necessary addition to any actively dating black geek’s list of favorite sites.”

York said the site is free for users and offers what he’s termed Nerd Credentials, which is a special feature that makes matching black nerd couples that much easier.

Other features slated to be added in the near future include chat and text features, live video chat, date planner options and more.

“This is the right time for BlackNerdDating.com’s twofold mission,” explained York when explaining his reasons for creating BlackNerdDating.com. “One, I want black nerds to have great online dating options but I also want to engage people’s changing perception of black nerds and geeks.”
