Dr. William Bobby McClain Will Speak at C. Eric Lincoln Lecture Series

Renowned scholar Dr. William Bobby McClain will be a guest lecturer at Clark Atlanta University’s celebration of 30 years of the Distinguished C. Eric Lincoln Lecture Series. The celebration will be marked by a series of events held on Wednesday and Thursday, October 10 and 11th.

The Lecture Series honors the contributions and scholarship of Dr. C. Eric Lincoln to religion and philosophy in America. The idea of creating a lectureship in his honor was conceived by a group of his former students at Clark College.

The lecture will begin at 10:45 a.m. in Davage Auditorium, located in the Haven-Warren Building. A luncheon will be held a noon in the board room of the Thomas W. Cole Research Center for Science and Technology . It will be followed at 2:00 p.m. by a return to Davage Auditorium where Dr. McClain will share with students, guests, and the university community comments about his relationship with Dr. Lincoln as a student, the commencement of the lectureship series, and how Dr. Lincoln impacted his life and work.

Dr. McClain, an ordained United Methodist Church minister, is called on frequently to lecture and preach in major pulpits and universities throughout this country and abroad. He has preached in Africa, Asia, the West Indies, New Zealand, and Europe.

On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 6:00 pm, in the Exhibition Hall of the Woodruff Library, there will be a presentation and reception highlighting 30 years of the lectureship series. Mrs. Lucy Lincoln and Dr. L. Henry Whelchel will share moments of reflection.
