Allen Temple A.M.E. in Annual Women’s Day
The Rev. Dr. John A. Foster, pastor, and the Allen Temple A.M.E. Church Women invite you to “Women’s Day 2012.” Ms. Justine Boyd, Executive Director for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Atlanta Affiliate, and former Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of Greater Atlanta, will bring the message. The theme is “Women of Allen: Called, Committed, Compelled to Serve God.” Services begin at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, October 14th. The Church is located at West Lake Avenue and Joseph E. Boone Boulevard, NW, Atlanta. Come share this uplifting experience.
A Celebration Held for Director Safiyyah Shahid
A celebration was held Sunday, Sept. 30, for Director and Principal of Mohammed Schools of Atlanta Safiyyah Shahid, at the Grand Overlook Ballroom of the Atlanta Mohammed Schools and the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam. A former Muslim Woman of the Year, Safiyyah Shahid has been married to businessman Hammam Shahid for 33 years and together they raised six children. Several tributes and honors were paid the honoree, who made brief comments. A graduate of Spelman College and holds a masters from Troy University, Safiyyah Shahid was honored for her 40 years of service, legacy and leadership in the community.
