"Steel Magnolias" Remake To Aid True Colors Theatre Company

Kenny Leon and True Colors Theatre Company invite you to a private, advance screening of the Lifetime Television and Sony Pictures remake of “Steel Magnolias” directed by Kenny Leon. Friday, October 5,   at 7 p.m. at the Georgia Pacific Auditorium. The film was shot in Atlanta in April of this year.

The evening will include the private viewing and a reception with Kenny and the Atlanta cast members of “Steel Magnolias” and a post-screening discussion with Kenny Leon.

All proceeds benefit True Colors Theatre Company’s 10th Anniversary Season.  Tickets are $150 per person or $250 per couple, with special seasonal anniversary support of $1000 that includes 2 tickets.  Their also is a sponsorship for $5000.   Readers can RSVP  to attend via email to vdunn@truecolorstheatre.org.

The movie stars Academy Award nominee, Queen Latifah as ‘M’Lynn’, Golden Globe and multiple Emmy-winner Alfre Woodard as ‘Ouiser,’ Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad as ‘Clairee,’ Grammy winner Jill Scott as ‘Truvy,’ Adepero Oduye as ‘Annelle’ and Condola Rashad as ‘Shelby.’

An adaptation of the esteemed play and 1989 film, this modern-day version chronicles the lives and friendship of six women in Louisiana. Supporting each other through their triumphs and tragedies, they congregate at Truvy’s beauty shop to ponder the mysteries of life and death, husbands and children – and hair and nails — all the important topics that bring women together.
