50th Anniversary Of Wilson Pickett Celebrated Sept. 21-23 With The Music OF Wilson Pickett

The Wilson Pickett Jr. Legacy, LLC (WPL) will present the musical, “In the Midnight Hour: The Music of Wilson Pickett,” at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center September 21 -23.   Featuring film and television star and NAACP Image Award Winner Cassi Davis, this Broadway style musical is produced by Kenneth Green, directed by Seret Scott with musical direction by Keith Wilson.

“In the Midnight Hour: The Music of Wilson Pickett,” is a jukebox musical that celebrates the music legacy and life of the international Rhythm and Blues, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist, The “Wicked”  Wilson Pickett.  Conceived by Kenneth Green, this production takes you on the journey of a musical icon that has helped shape the genres of soul music and Rhythm and Blues.

The event will be held Friday at 8 p.m.,  Saturday at 2:30 and 8 p.m., and  Sunday at 2:30 p.m.  Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center is located at 3181 Rainbow Drive in Decatur. Wilson Pickett was an American R&B/Soul singer and songwriter. A major figure in the development of American soul music, Pickett recorded over 50 songs which made the US R&B charts, and frequently crossed over to the US Billboard Hot 100. It is the desire of WPL to inspire young people to achieve their greatest dreams through the Wilson Pickett/Brandon Miller Scholarship Fund, where proceeds will benefit. The scholarship fund was established in 2010.
