ATLANTA, GEORGIA On Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., Troop 290 will hold an Eagle Scout Ceremony for Arnold John Andrade, III and Chad Jefferson Criss. This very distinguished ceremony will be held at Radcliffe Presbyterian Church in Northwest Atlanta. As part of the process towards achieving this goal, these boy scouts had to design, plan and complete a project, meeting the guidelines set out by Boy Scouts of America.

Dealing with the pressures of their high school graduations, both of these young men forged ahead and successfully completed the requirements for Eagle Scout. The project that Scout Andrade completed was to build shelves and organize equipment in the Quartermaster room of the Alonzo F. Brewer Scout Hut. Scout Andrade received 27 merit badges, exceeding the requirement to earn at least 21 badges for the honor of Eagle Scout. Scout Andrade is a 2012 Atlanta Public Schools graduate of Therrell High School.

Scout Chad Criss is a 2012 Cobb County Schools graduate of Campbell High School. He completed the task of removing old entrance and exit signs to Radcliffe Presbyterian Church, grooming the plot and placing brand new signs there. Along with Scout Criss, the entire troop helped to build and paint the signs, also planting flowerbeds around them. Scout Criss received 25 merit badges, also exceeding the 21 badge requirement. Scout Chad Criss is the grandson of Alonzo F. Brewer, the scout leader who helped to establish Troop 290, the namesake of the scout hut at Radcliffe Presbyterian Church and a pioneer in the scouting community.

Both Scout Arnold John Andrade and Chad Jefferson Criss fully participated in the scout program, receiving numerous badges and attending Bert Adams Scout Reserve, Woodruff Scout Reserve, the National Jamboree in Virginia and Sea Base in Florida. Both of these young men are members of the Order of the Arrow (OA). This recognition is given to those who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives.

Having produced five previous Troop 290 Eagle Scouts, it is with great pride, a sense of accomplishment and honor that Scoutmaster Joseph Ingram, Sr. has prepared and sends these two most deserving young men off on their next life journey.
