Hosea Feed The Hungry “Tools For School” Hosts 7th Annual Back To School Event Sat.

Georgia’s children have been hit hardest this year as parents struggle to keep food on the table, let alone preparing them for school with medical exams, new clothing and school supplies. As if that wasn’t enough, bullying in schools is on the rise, adding to the challenges these children will have to face in the year ahead.

More than more than 4,000 of Atlanta’s children, living at or below poverty level, will start school this year without the basics. Every year Hosea Feed the Hungry & the Homeless (HFTH) identifies children in desperate need and provides them with the means to have a healthy and successful school year at the Annual Back to School Jamboree.

Any child with a need can receive a backpack, health screening and clothing. The event is FREE and families are welcome to participate in all activities. The event will be held at Turner Field on Hank Aaron Drive in the Orange Parking Lot from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m on Sat., July 21. The event details include: as a family-oriented, community event, the Jamboree will host self-empowerment/mentor workshops; dental, vision and health screenings; diabetes screenings; the National ID program; fun activities, games, special guests, and family entertainment, including Ronald McDonald, the Braves Mascot, and actor, Afemo Omilami.Come and witness hope on children’s faces as they receive backpacks, school supplies, health screenings and clothing. Families can engage in wholesome entertainment. The continued tough economy and high unemployment rate has led to a great need for assistance and HFTH needs the community’s continued help as we are still short school supplies and monetary donations.

To make a donation, visit www.hoseafeedthehungry.com and click on the Jamboree Donation icon. You can bring school supplies (pencils, paper, rulers, scissors, crayons, T-180 calculators, backpacks, etc.) directly to our facility at 1035 Donnelly Avenue SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. For additional sponsorship info, contact the HFTH offices at 404-755-3353. The event also still needs volunteers.
