Girls Incorporated® of Greater Atlanta (Girls Inc.) has launched a call for nominations for its 2012 Strong, Smart & Bold Awards. The awards recognize leading Atlanta-area women for their contribution in inspiring local girls to become self-sufficient, responsible and economically-empowered women. The nominees and winners will be recognized at a luncheon at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North on Aug. 24, 2012.
Heather S. Rocker, CEO of Girls Inc., says the Girls Inc. Strong, Smart & Bold Awards are unique because they recognize Atlanta-area women of all ages who are an inspiration for local girls.
“At Girls Inc. we know inspiration isn’t an age. It’s an individual’s ability to be a positive role model for young girls, whether it’s a college-age woman tutoring young girls or a retired volunteer starting a grassroots campaign to eliminate illiteracy,” said Rocker.
The co-chairs of the event, Judy Bowers of AutoTrader.com and Monica Moore of First Data, say their committee created a streamlined nominating process so it’s easy for anyone to take a few minutes out of their busy schedule to nominate a deserving woman.
“We don’t want to wait until a woman is at the pinnacle of her career to recognize her contribution. Any woman making a difference in our community can be nominated for a Strong, Smart & Bold Award, and we depend on members of the Atlanta-area community to nominate deserving women,” said Bowers. “There’s no better way to recognize a deserving, inspirational woman than to nominate her for a Strong, Smart & Bold Award.”
