Alliance Theatre, Eddie’s Attic To Present World Premiere Musical ‘Ghost Brothers’

By Special to the Daily World
The Alliance Theatre and live music venue Eddie’s Attic have partnered to host a concert series showcasing the actor-musicians in the Alliance’s upcoming world premiere musical “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” a book by Stephen King,  music and lyrics by John Mellencamp, and  musical direction by T Bone Burnett.  The five-week series, titled “Darkland County Tuesdays,” boasts an impressive lineup of Atlanta-based and national performers and started the end of February.

“Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” features a blues and roots tinged score. To accomplish what has been described as a “ghost story/rock concert mashup,” the actors in the cast had to be true musicians. Eddie’s Attic is excited to bring these talented actor-musician hybrids to its stage. Atlanta audiences have the opportunity to see them perform original and covered music before “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” opens at the Alliance Theatre on April 4.

Scheduled performers include:  March 13, 8 p.m. – Justin Guarini, and Kate Ferber w/ Peter Albrink and Lucas Kavner;  March 20, 8 p.m. –  Dale Watson, Travis Smith with Dave Onorato and Joe Knezevich, Ryan Wotherspoon, and Rob Lawhon w/ Kylie Brown and John Driskell Hopkins from Zac Brown Band; March 27, 8 p.m. – Russell Cook with Cameron Cook (known as Little Country Giants), and Stephanie Laubscher with Josh Fletcher

Tickets for “Darkland County Tuesdays” can be purchased online at www.alliancetheatre.org/darklandcountytuesdays.
