Andrew Young Addresses NACo At Recent Reception & Dinner

The Honorable Andrew Young, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Atlanta mayor and U.S. congressman, was the honored guest at an elegant reception and dinner hosted by Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves, as the opening event of the National Association of Counties (NACo) annual Justice and Public Safety Symposium. Eaves (right) introduced Young to more than 60 county commissioners from across Georgia and the nation who attended the event, held the Loews Atlanta Hotel on Peachtree Street in Midtown. During his remarks, Young recounted his experiences in the Civil Rights Movement, recalling his memories of the last moments with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and organization leaders while at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis and shared his insight on current challenges in criminal justice and issues facing the nation today.  Shown with Young (center) and Eaves is 6th District Fulton County Commissioner Joan Garner.
