CAU Moves To Top Spot In Conference

With a 70-63 win over Miles College on Feb. 15, the Clark Atlanta University Panthers claimed the top spot in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) standings in a tight race to claim the regular season title as it comes to an end this week.

Royce Hamilton, the team’s leading scorer, led all players with a game-high 18 points and 13 rebounds followed by a trio of Panthers in double-digits including Willis Brownlee and Dishone Gregory with 12, and Logan Shoffner with 10.

Charles Gordon led Miles with 14 points while Stephon Allen finished 13 and Erick Lipkin chipped in 10 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

The Panthers, who have won eight of their last 10 games, fell to LeMoyne-Owen 66-52 on Feb. 13, snapping a two-game win streak. CAU will host Fort Valley State in its final home game and senior night presentations Saturday, Feb. 18, before closing out the regular season with a two-game road trip.

The SIAC Championship Tournament will run from Feb. 28-March 3 at Morehouse’s Forbes Arena.
