The Board of Directors and the members of 100 Black Men of Atlanta Inc. Annual Members Leadership Summit is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24-25, at the Allen Entrepreneurial Institute and Conference Center in Lithonia. Ambassador. Andrew Young, Dr. David Satcher, 16th U.S. Surgeon General; baseball legend Hank Aaron; and businessman Felker Ward are honorary co-chairs. U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. will be the dinner speaker on Saturday, Feb. 25.
Other confirmed participants during the two-day summit will include Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed (a member of the 100); Dr. Otis Brawley, chief medical officer, American Cancer Society; U.S. Congressmen John Lewis and David Scott; Erroll Davis, superintendent, Atlanta Public Schools; Atlanta University Center Presidents: Dr. John Maupin, Morehouse School of Medicine; Dr. Carlton Brown, Clark Atlanta University; Dr. Stanley Pritchett, Morris Brown College; and Dr. Ronald Peters, ITC; actress Jasmine Guy; TV One CEO & President Wonya Lucas; Actor Mykelti Williamson; BET host T.J. Holmes; Bank of America Merrill Lynch Wealth & Financial Management Team; and Paul Howard, Fulton County district attorney. Gregory Hawkins, chairman of the Board of 100 Black Men of Atlanta and Henry Kelly, president-elect, are providing the leadership for the summit.
Dr. Sharon Malone, spouse of U.S Attorney General Eric Holder, is the luncheon speaker for the Spouses/Significant Others Program during the 100 Black Men of Atlanta Leadership Summit. Malone is featured on an upcoming PBS Special, “Slavery By Another Name.” Other program participants are Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, executive vice president and dean at Morehouse School of Medicine and TV One’s Lucas.
The purpose of the summit is to develop strategic plans for the organization to engage national and local leaders in constructive dialogue on issues that will impact our organization, our mission and our community. Over the years the late Maynard Jackson; U.S. Congressman David Scott; Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas; The Honorable Alexis Herman; Gen. Colin Powell, Dr. Louis Sullivan and others have participated at this summit.
