In 1977, Walker was honored by the Georgia General Assembly. In 1984, he was cited Sportscaster of the Year and in 1986 was cited Broadcaster of the Year. Walker was also recipient of the Pioneer Award in Journalism in 1985.
Walker, 80, died on Tuesday, June 22. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, Fouch Walker. He leaves to cherish his memories four children, Joan Walker, Rosalyn Walker, Kenneth Walker, and Joseph F. Walker; sister-in-law, Sandra Fouch Smith; grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Burial will be at Lincoln Cemetery, following the funeral, with Murray Brothers Funeral Home in charge.
