City Announces Reduction In Youth Rec Fees

Special to the Daily World

The City of Atlanta announced on Monday that fees for the Office of Recreation’s summer youth programs have been reduced from $65 to $35 per week for Atlanta residents and City of Atlanta employees.

“I am pleased that we are able to reduce the price of enrollment for summer youth programs,” Atlanta Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Commissioner George Dusenbury said. “We remain committed in offering quality programs for our city’s young people that won’t create a financial hardship for parents.”

Registration continues for Camp Best Friends, “CBF: Live,” which offers eight weeks of instructional sessions at recreation centers in areas including art, science activities, sports, crafts and games. There are eight specialty camps and two teen camps available.

Parents can register their children at any City of Atlanta Recreation Center site of their choice, subject to availability.  City staff will work with families through financial programs to help find the necessary resources to register their children. Program staff will explore other options with parents if openings at their first choice are no longer available.
