Hawks Down Orlando In Game 6 To Advance|Hawks Recap

Joe Johnson scored 25 points and added 10 rebounds, and Jamal Crawford contributed 19 as the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Orlando Magic 84-81 on April 28 at Philips Arena to win the first-round series 4-2.

The Hawks advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals, which began in Chicago on May 2.

Orlando’s 81 points matched their season-low in Philips Arena.

Dwight Howard scored a game-high 25 points while pulling in 15 rebounds, but was held to three points in the second quarter when Atlanta opened a 10-point lead and held on to a 42-36 advantage at the half.

The Hawks came on strong from the beginning — particularly on the boards — outrebounding the Magic 26-13 in the first half. But it was down the stretch where the Magic failed to tie the game in the final seconds on two separate occasions that preserved the Atlanta victory.

After scoring his 11th point on a driving layup, Atlanta point guard Kirk Hinrich left the game with a strained right hamstring. He is doubtful for the series against Chicago.

Al Horford and Marvin Williams added 10 points apiece for the Hawks.

Orlando’s Hedo Turkoglu finished with 15.
