Black History Celebration-Rising On The Southside

The 7th Annual Black History Month celebration on Atlanta’s Southside focuses on youth achievements, music, dance, arts, education and community and business partnerships.

The celebration is being held Saturday, Feb. 12 from 3 p.m.until 6 p.m. at the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway at the Georgia International Convention Center. The theme is: “A proud past brings hope to a great future.”

Special recognition is being made to the outstanding achievements of the representatives of the Teen City Councils of South Fulton. These young “politicos” were voted into office by their classmates and they perform unofficial city business once a month.

Other Black History Month attractions include a special guest performance by the renowned Ballethnic Dance Company Youth Ensemble, Sinfo-Nia 80-piece youth orchestra performance.

This event is sponsored by Credit Union of Atlanta, Gatorade, AT&T and the Southside Insider News.

“We encourage all families to attend this event as we honor our Heroes, Heroines and future leaders,” said event planner Yolanda Reynolds.
